As a continuation after reading the Maddaddam Trilogy, I was following two characters from the last book when they went exploring the surroundings. They followed a highway for some distance and at one point came to where automobiles were strewn in dense array across the landscape.
At some point (you know how dream time goes), the pair made their to a rural landscape and came to an entrance to a constructed place slightly underground. They made their way inside. Faint blue lights showed their surroundings. All was well kept but didn't appear to go far into the hill until our pair of explorers pushed a panel aside and found switches which when flipped, turned on more blue lights and exhaust fans.
They found their way farther inward and came to a full household of rooms with a sitting area, kitchen, bathroom. No one was in these rooms but you could see that the unit was designed to be self-sustaining. They made their way to the last room, pushed open a sliding door and found a family of four – mom, dad, two kids – in a large bedroom. Hiding out? I don't know. One of the explorers motioned the mother outside and explained what had happened across the planet and commented that all they needed was more units like the one where they were now. A clear interpretation of the dream? Hard to say. I've never, to my recollection, dreamed of books before.
